A Weekly walk through
Every sprinkler system that is not monitored properly will fail. Most of the time 2 or 3 times a season is enough. I recommend to people that they set a short test cycle for their system to run on a Saturday or Sunday at 9 or 10 in the morning. Like 2 minutes per zone. This will remind you that, if you have the time, to walk through the system and give it the once over.

something that is hidden from you when the system runs at 4:00 in the morning.
