How
to shut off the water to the sprinkler system
There are a few ways to shut down the sprinkler system.
o At the controller
o At the main valve
o At the backflow preventer
At the controller….
Most controllers have an Off button that is pretty clear to see. If that
does not work most likely you have a stuck valve and need to try step 2.

At the main valve….
Usually in the basement
this valve is found near the water meter. It most likely has a red tag on it
indicating that it is the main valve for the sprinkler system. If you have a
round handle valve turn it clockwise until it stops rotating. If you have a lever type valve, known as a ball
valve turn the handle so it is perpendicular to the pipe.
At the backflow preventer….
There are also two valves
at the backflow preventer (PVB RPA) that can be shut off
from outside. This is a good point to show your neighbor if you are not around
for an extended period of time.
